Islamic education is crucial for guiding current and future generations on the right path. In Hong Kong, several madrasahs have been established to teach children how to read and memorize the Quran. However, it has been challenging to maintain practical Islamic practices due to the multicultural environment. As a result, many Muslim parents prefer to send their children to countries like South Africa, Pakistan, and Bangladesh for higher Islamic studies. Unfortunately, this option is not affordable for every Muslim family. Additionally, some parents, even if they could afford the expenses, were hesitant to send their children abroad due to security and other concerns.

In early 2024, a religious group from the USA, originally from Bangladesh, visited Hong Kong. They shared their experience from New York City, where numerous Maktabs had been established, greatly benefiting the Muslim community and helping children grow up with strong Islamic values.

Inspired by their success, a passionate team in Hong Kong discussed the need for similar Maktabs with local ulama (scholars), including Mufti Muhammad Arshad Saheb, Mufti Shoaib Saheb, Mufti Zaman Saheb, Mufti Iftekhar Saheb, Mufti Muhammad Ali Tayyib Saheb, and other Islamic Scholars. They all agreed on the necessity of having an Islamic curriculum that includes Aqaid, Fiqh, Sirah, Ahadith, Tarikh, Akhlaq, and Adab to protect the faith and beliefs of future generations.
With the support and scholarly advice of these esteemed ulama, MESHK was inaugurated on 27 July 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Islamic education in Hong Kong.
